02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
We are a Congregation affiliated to the Scottish Episcopal Church. We are a Christian Congregation and our main purpose is the advancement of the Christian Faith in our island community and supporting the spiritual needs of every member of that community. We provide a year round offering of Christian worship from the weekly Sung Eucharist to special services at the Holy Week of Easter and Christmas. Our Advent Carol and Carols by Candlelight services are key events in the life of the island. In addition to our church services we also offer free Classical Music concerts in the Cathedral building on Sunday afternoons primarily between Easter and October. Again these are very popular events and usually guarantee a full house. Our grounds and buildings are open to islanders and visitors alike and the Cathedral is regarded as one of the key assets of the island for both its architectural beauty and its religious significance. I am proud to be associated with this wonderful place.
