02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
The Charity was set up to promote the playing of traditional Scottish music. It organises the annual Elgin Fiddle Festival to encourage young players to perform in public. It organises an annual Rally and invites players from all over the country to join members in a concert. It also encourages its members to participate in rallies held by similar organizations. It plays for various groups and organizations in and around Moray. Its members also participate in the Scotland-Scandanavia Traditional Music Association meetings.

Constitutional objectives
The Society has charitable status in Scotland and is established to promote and perform instrumental music, principally the music of Scotland, in order that: (a) the community’s interest in such music shall be encouraged and advanced by public and private concerts given by the Society or under its auspices from time to time and also through broadcasting media and recordings and (b) traditional fiddle playing of such music shall likewise be preserved, encouraged and promoted within Scotland by such activities as rallies, workshops and festivals and, where finances permit, promoted abroad by cultural visits and exchanges abroad.
