02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The charity was set up to provide a recreational facility for the residents of Kirkpatrick Durham and the wider environs. The charity own and manage Kirkpatrick Durham Recreation Area. This area is 4.5 acres of former agricultural land with paths and woodland area. There is a small community orchard and an area with outdoor play equipment. There is a small building available for community use and private hire, this has basic catering facilities and a wheelchair accessible toilet is available. There is a polytunnel and greenhouse for community use. Monthly social gatherings are organised and the charity is involved, with others, in organising the annual village gala week.

Constitutional objectives

To promote the benefit of the inhabitants of the Parish of Kirkpatrick Durham and its environs without distinction of sex of political, religious or other opinions by associating the local statutory authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to advance education and to provide facilities, in the interest of social welfare for recreation and other leisure-time occupation so that their conditions of live may be improved.
