02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The charity provides care, respite, recreational and support services for children, young people and adults with additional support needs and disabilities. Its aim is to improve wellbeing, independence and social inclusion, while supporting families and carers. Services are delivered through person-centred 1:1 support, group activities, day opportunities, clubs, holiday programmes and adult support services, including 24-hour care where required. The charity works closely with families, local authorities and partner organisations to ensure services are safe, accessible and tailored to individual needs, helping beneficiaries build confidence, develop life skills and participate fully in their communities.

Constitutional objectives

4.1 To provide, or assist in the provision of facilities for recreation or other leisure time occupation, in the interests of social welfare for disabled children and young people and their non-disabled peers resident within North and South Lanarkshire ('the Operating Areas') with the object of improving their conditions of life. 4.2 To promote education through: a) the provision and supervision of learning-orientated play activities for school and pre-school children. b) the promotion of social inclusion of disabled children and young people in mainstream recreation and leisure activities with a view to raising awareness and understanding amongst the general public the rights and needs of such individuals. 4.3 To promote and/or provide training in the skills associated with the care and supervision of disabled children and young people.
