02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
To relieve the suffering and distress and to further the health and well being of people with cancer in the Oban and surrounding area. At the Dove Centre we provide services and facilities for people to use. This is done via support groups and therapy sessions. We support patients attending the MacMillan Day Bed unit at our local hospital in the form of certain therapies. We have an outreach and be-friending coordinator who assists in non-medical help via home visits, phone calls and outings.

Constitutional objectives
The company’s objects are: Oban Hospice Limited is established for charitable purposes only and in particular to relieve the suffering and distress and to further the health and wellbeing of people with cancer as the primary diagnosis, their families and carers, whose usual place of residence is in Oban, Lorn and the Isles as a non-residential, community-based service. We also support people with Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease and Motor Neurone Disease.
