What the charity exists to do
The purposes of the Trust are: (a) Operating the harbour for the benefit of all its stakeholders including both port users and the local community. (b) Maintaining and improving the harbour facilities. (c) Attracting new uses of the harbour and new business to the harbour. (d) Advancing public education concerning the harbour. and (e) Providing facilities in the interest of social welfare for recreation and leisure-time occupation. The activities of the Trust are: • employment of harbour staff. • provision, maintenance and operation of the harbour services and harbour premises. • construction, maintenance, alteration, renewal or extension of any works in the harbour. • administration of the harbour activities. • communication of news and developments to the harbour stakeholders. • proper use of its statutory powers. • provision of educational facilities for local schools and societies. • organisation of public events to increase the public’s awareness of and enjoyment of Dunbar’s

Constitutional objectives
The objects of the Company are for the benefit of the public to repair, maintain, conserve and preserve Dunbar Harbour through the necessary rebuilding and restoration thereof. To advance public education concerning the Harbour particularly concerning the older Cromwell and Victorian Harbours. To advance public education generally and to provide, or assist in the provision of, facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation and leisure-time occupation with the object of improving the conditions of life for the inhabitants of Dunbar and its , environs. To promote trade and industry for the benefit of the public.
