02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
The charity is set up to maintain and improve Amisfield Walled Garden, to the east of Haddington, for the benefit of the local community and visitors more generally. We aim to ensure that the garden remains a beautiful place that enhances the wellbeing, learning and social engagement of volunteers, visitors and community groups, and the skills and life outcomes of those involved in its maintenance and management, and where a community can work together to maintain and improve its environment. We do this by providing a wide range of volunteering opportunities throughout the year, by keeping the garden open without charge for as much as we can reasonably achieve, by holding fund-raising events and by providing wellbeing activities
