02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Our charity is set up to provide free, impartial and expert advice to households, businesses and communities, covering energy efficiency, renewable energy and sustainable transport. It aims to reduce energy consumption and promote sustainability locally, thus contributing to national policy targets towards a net-zero carbon future. We do this by managing several specific programmes on behalf of the Scottish Government and local authorities. We are contracted through these schemes to provide expert advice and arrange energy efficiency measures on behalf of householders. We also provide advice to businesses and communities and assist them in accessing funding to make energy efficiency improvements and install renewable energy systems. We also manage a Climate Action Hub which provides support to local community groups, which is funded by the Scottish Government. Lastly we provide education to local schools and training to organisations including Carbon Literacy training.
