02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The trust is set up to maintain the North Ronaldsay Memorial Hall and grounds for the people of the island and to educate the public in the history of and life in North Ronaldsay.

Constitutional objectives

(l) The maintanence of the Memorial Hal, North Ronaldsay, as a continuing memorial to those Islanders who served in the 1914-18 Great War. The said Memorial Hall with the Solum thereof and ground attached are, together with any addition thereto, hereafter referred to as the 'Trust Subjects' (2) The Trust subjects are dedicated and shall be held by us and our successors as Trustees in all time coming for the purposes of a Memorial Hall for the use of the inhabitants of North Ronaldsay and its environs without distinction of political, religious or other opinions, including use for meetings, lectures and Classes, and for other forms of recreation and leisure time occupation, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants (3) The advancement of the education of the public in the history, geography, wildlife and the other features of life in the Island of North Ronaldsay, Orkney
