02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The Scottish Castles Association exists to encourage the protection, preservation, restoration, research, study and appreciation of Scotland's castles, tower houses and manor houses, together with their associated furnishings, settings, gardens and designed landscapes. We achieve these charitable purposes by organising educational visits, conferences, lectures and publications. developing and maintaining an online archive of information and research. working collaboratively with owners, heritage organisations, universities and other bodies with similar aims. and promoting public understanding and appreciation of Scotland's castle heritage. We also encourage volunteering, research and the sharing of knowledge to support the long-term conservation and sustainable future of Scotland's castles.
