02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
To relieve poverty and to advance education among the residents of the Area of Benefit, particularly young people and the unemployed. To promote and/or provide training in skills of all kinds, particularly such skills as will assist residents of the Area of Benefit in obtaining paid employment. To promote, establish and operate other schemes of a charitable nature for the benefit of the community within the Area of Benefit. We do this by running a Dial-a-Bus service, running excursions and a Lunch Club for residents of the area that we serve. We also provide First Aid and MiDAS training to individuals and organisations to ensure that they fulfil their legal obligations and can continue in, or commence their chosen employment. We are a prime point of contact for individuals/families in crisis in our local area in respect of the basic necessities. We also assist individuals who cannot access mainstream transport to attend hospital appointments/clinics.
