02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Ayrshire Independent Living Network (AILN) is a Disabled People’s Organisation supporting people across Ayrshire to live independently with choice and control. AILN delivers a wide range of services including self-directed support, payroll, employability support, and training opportunities for people, unpaid carers, and organisations. We also support the development of local micro-enterprises, helping to build flexible, community-based care options. Our community projects, such as dementia befriending and wellbeing cafés, reduce isolation and promote inclusion. Working in partnership, AILN empowers people, families, and unpaid carers while strengthening communities and creating sustainable, person-centred support.

Constitutional objectives

To support our clients, within the area of Ayrshire, who have SDS care packages (self directed support) by providing them with information and a service that will give them more freedom of choice in how they run their lives. This will be done with the aim of improving the conditions of life of these clients, and to use this support to help them to live a fully inclusive life within the wider community.
