02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
The charity was set up to preserve, conserve and develop Knockando Woolmill, Moray including its historic textile plant and machinery and its immediate surroundings and watercourses as a historic rural working woolmill, to preserve the traditional rural craft skills used in a rural woolmill by providing a training in those skills and by other appropriate means and to educate the general public about the heritage and historical significance of Knockando Woolmill. It does this by (1) weaving textiles at the Woolmill and selling the resulting product and other finished goods at the Woolmill and online to raise cash to achieve the charity's objects, (2) training weavers at the Woolmill, (3) conducting guided tours of the Woolmill and undertaking other educational projects on the history of the Woolmill, and (4) raising grant funding and private donations to support the charity's objects.

Constitutional objectives
The Charitable Purposes of the Trust ('the Charitable Purposes') are to preserve, conserve and develop Knockando Woolmill, Moray including its historic textile plant and machinery and its immediate surroundings and watercourses as a historic rural working woolmill to preserve the traditional rural craft skills used in a rural woolmill by providing a training in those skills and by other appropriate means and, without prejudice to the foregoing generality, specifically through: (a) promoting the heritage and historical significance of Knockando Woolmill. (b) educating the general public about the heritage and historical significance of Knockando Woolmill. (c) renovating and improving the existing mill buildings, textile plant and machinery, land and watercourses so that they may continue to function as a working rural woolmill and historical landmark: and (d) the wholesale and retail sale of products manufactured at Koockando Woolmill and items incorporating products manufactured at Knockando Woolmill.
