02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Drummuir 21 was established in 2000 to encourage and promote the construction and restoration of a network of footpaths within the Drummuir area for local people and visitors, and to encourage more people to walk and cycle. It also educates the public on environmental issues and sustainable development. This identified: interest in enhanced access to the countryside A desire to encourage more visitors The need to balance this with protecting Drummuir’s character and qualities Drummuir 21 continues to pursue these priorities via: Maintaining a walking trail along the River Isla. The trail now forms part of the Isla Way Working with local partners including Botriphnie Primary School and Keith Dufftown Railway Association Information boards around the village which explain local historical sites and wildlife Promotion of St Fumac’s Fair in memory of local Saint Fumac A programme of events including an annual barbecue for the membership and talks from visiting experts
