02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

To enhance travel opportunities for people who have difficulty in accessing transport services in Wigtownshire through the improved utilisation of existing vehicles and the removal of any duplication of activity presently occurring. WCT's aim of a co-ordinated transport network is still at the forefront of its objectives. The organisation intends to make a meaningful and sustainable contribution to improving transport for everyone across the area. The organisation promotes social inclusion in rural areas by providing sustainable improvements in the quality of available transport in partnership with local communities, public and private bodies.

Constitutional objectives

The objects of the Group shall be to promote the benefit of the inhabitants of the Wigtownshire area by assisting through the voluntary provision of transport ,advice,aid or assistance the work of statutory authorities, voluntary organisations and bodies engaged in the relief of poverty, sickness and disabilities including the disabilities of old age,the provision of facilities for recreation and other leisure time occupation within the meaning of Section 1 ofthe Recreational Charities Act 1958 and any other charitable purpose,so that the conditions of life of the aforementioned inhabitants may be improved
