02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The principal objectives of the company as set out in our Memorandum and Articles of Association are to prevent and relieve poverty by providing business premises to create employment opportunities for community members, businesses, the self-employed and third sector organisations, advance education by providing premises for training activities including vocational training and educational programmes, advance community development through regeneration of the community by the maintenance of physical infrastructure, advance rural and urban regeneration of the community by developing and managing community land and built environment assets.

Constitutional objectives

(1) To relieve poverty among the residents of Mayfield and Easthouses, Edinburgh ('the Operating Area') (2) To advance education among the residents of the Operating Area, particularly among young people and the unemployed (3) To promote and/or provide training in skills of all kinds,particlliarly such skills as will assist residents of the Operating Area in obtaining paid employment (4) To promote, establish and operate other schemes of a charitable nature for the benefit of the community within the Operating Area (5) To promote trade and industty for the benefit of the general public
