02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
The charity’s objectives are to promote, educate and develop appreciation of a variety of different styles of music through choral singing. In order to achieve this we’ve had around thirty rehearsals over the year to prepare repertoire for two concerts. We sang at a care home, in Glasgow University Chapel and at a funeral. We also invited charities to attend our concerts and our local junior choir took part in our Christmas Concert. Our musical director selected choral pieces from our music library and sourced new works to produce two varied and enjoyable concert programmes thus widening the musical experience of everyone involved. Our audiences had the pleasure of listening to live music locally that may otherwise have been impossible for many of them. We also had two choral scholars, due to a grant from Renfrewshire Council, who took part in rehearsals and performances. This arrangement was beneficial to the scholars and aided the charity in achieving our objectives.
