02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Our vision is for parents in Wigtownshire to receive the support needed to give their children the best possible start in life. Our mission is to support families with children under five through friendship, emotional and practical help at home, in groups and by telephone/video. We promote positive MH and wellbeing, nurture healthy relationships and safe homes, build confidence and resilience, address inequalities affecting families on low incomes. Based in Wigtownshire (487sq/miles)we're an independent voluntary org affiliated to Home-Start UK. Our staff recruit and train volunteers, including parents, carers and people with lived experience. Volunteers work beside families in their homes, helping them develop confidence and skills. We provide family and health and wellbeing groups, parenting programmes, telephone/video befriending and short-term intensive support. Working with local services, we take a whole family approach to helping children flourish and strengthening families

Constitutional objectives
The organisation’s purposes are: (a) Promoting the welfare of families living in Wigtownshire, with at least one child under 5 years of age, and to this end (b) Offering practical and emotional support to parents, helping them build confidence, resilience and positive relationships (c) Reducing isolation and strengthening family and community connections (d) Enhancing children's early learning, development and well-being through family-focused support (e) Working in partnership with local agencies and services to ensure families receive holistic and joined-up support (f) Any other purpose that may reasonably be regarded as analogous to any of the preceding purposes.
