02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The charity’s objective and principal activity continue to be to advance the education of the public of Barbaraville and surrounding district by the provision of facilities for recreation, play, learning and enhancement to the environment, and to relieve poverty amongst the inhabitants of Barbaraville and surrounding district. The charity is organised so that the trustees meet regularly to manage its affairs. The charity holds regular village events and gatherings to foster community spirit. This includes days to tidy and weed in the village and playpark, undertaking any repairs required. The group holds fundraising events throughout the year, including a Summer Fete, Village Barbecue and Festive Gathering that includes a visit from Santa and distribution of treats. Funds are also raised through a monthly 100 Club draw, giving all participants the opportunity to win a cash prize. This year we also successfully raised funds to purchase and install a defibrillator for the village.
