02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
We want girls across Scotland to have the space and opportunities they need to grow in confidence. Girlguiding is so much more than an after-school activity or a way for girls to spend and evening. We give girls their own space as we want all girls to benefit from the opportunities to grow that come with being part of Girlguiding. Members love being in an all-girl group because it gives them space to be themselves, try new things and share what it’s like growing up as a girl in today’s world. At the weekly meetings they choose what they want to do with their friends. Girls love earning badges which show that they’ve thrown themselves into a new sport, explored and issue or learned a new skill. We give girls a voice by providing even more opportunities for girls and young women to make a difference, speak out and do things which will boost their CV. We empower girls to become Leaders themselves and make their voices heard on the issues that affect them.
