What the charity exists to do
Murton Trust for Education and the Environment is a Scottish charity (SC031554) with an educational and environmental focus. Based on a former quarry near Forfar, Angus, it manages a 100-acre site, including a nature reserve, visitor farm, and tearoom. Vision: To create a unique space where people of all ages can learn and develop life skills. Mission: Murton seeks to maximise its site’s potential to enrich lives, serving as an educational centre with a national reputation and strong community value. Aims: • Provide educational opportunities that foster learning and life skills. • Maintain a thriving nature reserve, promoting outdoor access. • Operate a visitor farm and tearoom for recreation and income generation. • Build strong community connections through leadership and engagement. Murton strives to be a sustainable charity that benefits individuals and the wider community.

Constitutional objectives
4.1 Advancement of education 4.1.1 To advance education of the public, especially the young people, regarding nature, wildlife, the environment and living and working in the countryside, in the interests of social welfare with the object of improving the conditions of life for young people and the community. 4.2 Environmental protection and improvement 4.2.1 To preserve and enhance the natural heritage for the public benefit by the establishment and maintenance of a nature reserve on land owned by, or leased to, the Trust and/or at such places as the charity trustees may from time to time determine. 4.3 Provision of recreational facilities 4.3.1 To provide recreational facilities to the public on land owned by, or leased to, the Trust and/or such other places as the charity trustees may from time to time determine.
