02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Our charity promotes and supports Gaelic-medium education in and around Islay and Jura. We do this by organising regular meetings giving children and adults the chance to use and develop the language. We also run a varied programme of events, including cultural events such as cèilidhs, Gaelic learning workshops, and fundraising events, to raise the profile of Gaelic, build community involvement, and generate income to support our work. Through these activities we aim to keep the Gaelic language living and growing in our local communities, and to ensure children and learners of all ages have access to opportunities to learn and use it.
