02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The Haven provides support for people diagnosed with a life limiting illness, and for their families, including children & young people, & carers. Primarily across North and South Lanarkshire and surrounding areas, but there are no geographical restrictions to accessing Haven support. Clients can self-refer and signposts can also be made by health and social care and community based professionals. To promote equity of access, all services are provided free of charge. Services are provided by nurses, children’s service practitioner, wellbeing practitioners and volunteers and all members of the multidisciplinary multidisciplinary team work within The Haven’s What’s Important Now (W.I.N) framework. Services at The Haven are delivered within the ethos of supportive self-management where clients are assisted to develop skills and strategies to manage their condition and to cope with the emotional, physical and practical effects of illness, bereavement or caring responsibilities.
