02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Tayside Young Fiddlers is a youth organisation which provides tuition and performance opportunities to people aged 11-18 who are passionate about traditional Scottish fiddle music and the wider roots of Scottish culture. Meeting weekly, the group of 25 children learn and rehearse for 2 hours, tutored by 4 trad fiddle players. In addition, the group perform at various events in and around Dundee each year, undertake fund raising activities, record CDs and every June are taken away for a residential fiddle camp at Lagganlia, near Aviemore.
