02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
The charity was set up to preserve and protect the heritage and traditions of the west side of Lewis by collecting stories, songs, articles and photographs related to the local area. We produce a quarterly magazine to share that knowledge with the community and we hold exhibitions for the same purpose. We work with schoolchildren to advance their understanding of the locality and their heritage. We have published two croft history books covering the last 200 plus years, and we have Gaelic at the heart of everything we do.
