02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The objectives of the charity, which have not changed since last year's report, shall be to create, foster and maintain public interest in the patients and staff of Ayr Hospital by providing voluntary unpaid services.

Constitutional objectives

The organisation’s purposes are: The relief of those in need through the provision of a shop and tea bar to improve the conditions of life of the patients whilst in University Hospital Ayr, Dalmellington Road, Ayr, South Ayrshire, KA6 6DX. The activities of the organisation shall also include the provision of a trolley service to wards and clinics. These activities are in no way restrictive of the powers of the organisation to carry out such voluntary work as may be from time to time agreed by them with hospital managers. In addition to the foregoing activities the organisation may raise funds and invite and collect contributions from any person or persons. The advancement of health through the provision of grants to the endowment funds held by the hospital for the purpose of enhancing the accommodation or facilities of University Hospital Ayr or for purchasing equipment, machinery, instruments, fittings or furnishings to be used at University Hospital Ayr. Note this list is not exhaustive.
