02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Docomomo Scotland advances the education of the public and stimulates interest in buildings, sites and neighbourhoods of the Modern Movement in Scotland in particular and, more generally, Scotland's built 20th-century historic environment. We do this by encouraging research, documentation and conservation of said buildings, sites and neighbourhoods. We organise seminars, talks and tours. we write articles, contribute to books and publish online media. and we campaign by proposing historic places for heritage designation and/or documentation and by commenting on development proposals affecting historic places. We also contribute to activities of our parent organisation Docomomo International, as its 'Scottish National Group'.
