02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The charity was originall set up to remember the clandestine Shetland Bus operation during WW2 and later broadened its scope to run a Museum in the village of Scalloway.

Constitutional objectives

4 The organisation’s purposes are to: 4.1 Advance the education of the public into the history and heritage of the local community and in particular the historical relevance of the Shetland Bus. 4.2 Advance the understanding of the community and the general public of the importance of heritage and the local culture. 4.3 Protect and preserve the cultural heritage of the local area as far as is possible, for the benefit and enjoyment of future generations and the general public.
