02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Bank of Scotland Foundation is an independent charity, funded annually by Lloyds Banking Group ('LBG'). Its mission is to help build a brighter future for Scotland by supporting small charities working with people in vulnerable circumstances e.g. people experiencing poverty, homelessness, poor mental health or those with limited English language skills. The Foundation distributes funds through: (i) Grants Programmes: multi-year, unrestricted funding for charities supporting vulnerable groups (ii) Matched Giving Programme: matching fundraising and volunteering efforts of LBG colleagues in Scotland. The Foundation’s current five-year strategy focuses on: (i) Flexibility: Offering unrestricted, multi-year funding. (ii) Collaboration: Partnering with LBG for strategic support and volunteering. (iii) Influence: Championing charities and raising awareness of challenges faced by vulnerable people. (iv) Continuous Improvement: Listening, learning, and evaluating to enhance impact.
