02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
• To provide funding support for the development and implementation of innovative learning initiatives across all sectors of the oil and gas industry and wider energy sector • To provide funding through donations without seeking ownership • To promote the uptake of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) relating to aspects of the energy industry across the learning supply chain e.g. schools, colleges and universities • To inform the general public on the careers and opportunities that exist within the energy industry • The charity has a general aim of supporting innovative ideas relating to skills, education, workforce development, training and standards

Constitutional objectives
“This Article 3 shall be interpreted as if it incorporated an overriding qualification limiting the powers of the Company such that any activity which would otherwise be permitted by the terms of this Article may be carried on only if that activity furthers a purpose which is regarded as charitable for the purposes of Section 7 of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 (including any statutory amendment or re-enactment for the time being in force). Subject to that overriding qualification, the Company's purposes are:- i. to advance, promote, approve, set, maintain and develop requisite standards for education, training and skills requirements in respect of persons employed or intending to be employed in the energy industry ('the Industry') and to oversee the compliance of such requisite standards. In furtherance of the Company's stated objects (but not otherwise), the Company shall have the power:-“
