02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
To support clinincal research projects. To support adults and children in the prevention, treatment and diagnose eye diesases. To furnish and equip the Fighting for Sight rooms within the eye clinic at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. To promote staff development and training and patient education. We have funded the purchase of various pieces of equipment, paid for various staff training courses and seminars. Also the publication of a paper relating to the presentation of eye clinic data.

Constitutional objectives
(a) To preserve and protect good health of individuals by promoting the prevention of blindness through the establishment of a Centre for Clinical Research at the Department of Ophthalmology, Grampian Hospital University, Aberdeen and in furtherance thereof to have power to raise funds primarily to provide clinical and research facilities and eqUipment (always providing that such equipment and facilities is over and above that which is the statutory obligation of the National Health Service to provide). (b) To benefit in any way such other charitable object or objects in any part of the world as the Trustees shall in their absolute discretion think fit to support or establish.
