02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Cantilena Festival provides a welcoming and supportive environment in which students from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland receive coaching in chamber music from leading professional musicians. Alongside this intensive musical training, the students perform concerts for audiences across the Isle of Islay. Through a programme of outreach activities and community engagement, the Festival seeks to become an integral part of island life, fostering meaningful connections between artists, residents and visitors.

Constitutional objectives
(1) To advance education through promotion of the arts, particularly among residents of Islay. (2) To help young people, and primarily those resident on Islay, to develop, their physical, mental and spiritual capacities, sllch that they may grow to full maturity as individuals and members of society. (3) To promote, establish, operate, and/or support other projects and programmes of a charitable nature for the benefit of the residents of Islay.
