02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
The charity was established to promote the advancement of the Arts through the presentation of drama and musical productions for the benefit of the community. We encourage the use of the theatre building as a community resource for social, cultural and musical events. This will be achieved by: Maintaining and developing the range of performance opportunities provided by the venue, while maintaining high quality standards. Providing supportive, inclusive environment for all members. Increasing the number of users of the theatre , including resident companies and external hires, and broadening the range and type of audiences served. Developing the venue to maximise its potential to support its core activities and function more efficiently and effectively, while maintaining a reputation for friendliness and inclusivity. Increasing income generation, through commercial activities and fundraising, to drive improvements to services and facilities.

Constitutional objectives
The objectives of the Group shall be to promote, encourage and sustain within East Dunbartonshire and adjoining areas various branches of the arts by holding regular performances. For the purposes of this clause the arts shall be deemed to mean plays and musical theatre and all other such activities as the Management Committee consider to be conducive to the best interests of the Group.
