OSCR note: This SCIO was incorporated on 2nd November 2015 as a result of a Change to SCIO application by Scottish Detainees Visitors (SC033781), which was an Unincorporated Association registered as a charity since 27th October 2002.
02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Scottish Detainee Visitors supports people in immigration detention in Scotland, raises awareness and influences policy to end immigration detention in the UK. In order to do this, we povide a unique visiting service to people detained in Dungavel immigration removal centre. We also work to ensure that politicians, other decison makers and the general public are aware of the inhumanity of detention and that there are alternatives to it.

Constitutional objectives
4 The organisation's charitable objectives are: 4.1 To relieve the conditions of stress and isolation of asylum seekers and refugees in Scotland who are or have been in immigration detention. 4.2 To improve the health and wellbeing of people in Scotland who are or have been in immigration detention. 4.3 To raise awareness around the issues of detention and advocate for change in order to further our other charitable objectives.’
