02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Lairg and District Learning Centre is a trusted, inclusive community hub delivering learning, wellbeing and social connection in a hyper rural area, a place where people come to learn, share, and make things, as well as meet new people. Community is at the heart of everything we do. We listen, engage and respond to what local people want to learn, then seek funding to make it happen. We work with people of all ages and backgrounds and are an inclusive organisation where no one is turned away. In a rural area, we are often the only place with the doors open, offering creative, practical, cultural, wellbeing and digital learning that enriches everyday life.

Constitutional objectives
The company’s objects are: To advance the education of residents of Ross-shire, Sutherland and Caithness and the wider community through both face-to-face and online learning, with the aim of approving the quality of life. This will be achieved by providing and supporting access to local facilities and resources for lifelong learning.
