02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
We celebrate the life and times of Sir Walter Scott who lived nearby and worked as a sheriff in Selkirk. We hold community events each year including reenactments of court cases he presided over in the Sir Walter Scott Courtroom. We work with local schools to educate youngsters about the historical figure so closely linked with our town

Constitutional objectives
To advance education and promote the arts in the Royal and Ancient Burgh of Selkirk and in furtherance thereof the Association shall seek to - (i) hold an annual fair to be known as SCOTT'S SELKIRK (ii) increase knowledge of Sir Walter Scott by celebrating and interpreting his life, works and historical significance and association to the Royal and Ancient Burgh of Selkirk (iii) associate with voluntary organisations, local authorities and other bodies in the attainment of the foregoing
