02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The charity supports rugby players and their families who have received a serious sports injury through the playing of rugby. The charity also supports preventative measures to reduce injury or harm during the playing of rugby and these grants may be to individuals, clubs and community where rugby is played. This is through raising funds to provide grants to purchase exercise equipment, accessibility improvements to housing and enabling players to attend sporting functions. The charity has also provide life saving defibrillators to a number of rugby clubs where these are installed outside of clubhouses to support the club and the wider local community to enhance safety.

Constitutional objectives

5.1 The Company is established for the purposes of (i) meeting the needs of persons with physical or mental disability that have arisen as a result of a life changing sports injury, (ii) supporting the prevention and treatment of injuries in sport, (iii) the advancement of public education in relation to injuries in sport, and (iv) the provision of equipment or resources in furtherance of the forgoing purposes. 5.2 In particular for the purposes of the 2005 Act the charitable purposes identified as applicable from section 7 of the 2005 Act are:- 5.2.1 the relief of those in need by reason of age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage. 5.2.2 the advancement of heath. 5.2.3 the saving of lives. and 5.2.4 the advancement of education
