02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Dar Al-Falaah Community Education Association is a grassroots, community-led charity based in Glasgow. We are set up to empower children, young people, and families—particularly those from refugee, asylum-seeking, ethnic minority, and low-income backgrounds—by reducing inequalities in education, health, and wellbeing. We do this through our Saturday Arabic School,, which together support over 130 children and young people each week. Our activities include educational support, arts and cultural workshops, sports, wellbeing sessions, family engagement, and community events. Our programmes are trauma-informed, inclusive, and culturally sensitive, designed to help children thrive socially, emotionally, and academically. We also provide safe spaces, healthy food, and volunteer opportunities that build resilience, confidence, and community connections. Delivery is supported by a diverse team of staff and over 16 dedicated volunteers who reflect the community.
