02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Dar Al-Falaah Community Education Association is a grassroots community charity based in Glasgow, providing education, social, cultural and wellbeing activities for children, young people and families, particularly those from ethnic minority, refugee, asylum-seeking and low-income backgrounds. We provide regular educational and recreational sessions, including Arabic language learning, literacy and numeracy support, arts and creative activities, sports, physical activity, storytelling, environmental learning and wellbeing activities. We also organise cultural and community events that bring families together and help reduce social isolation. Our programmes are delivered through a combination of staff, tutors and community volunteers in safe, inclusive and supportive settings. We aim to improve educational opportunities, confidence, health and wellbeing, social inclusion and community connections, while helping children and families develop skills, maintain cultural connections.
