02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The Cruach Trust is a small Scottish charity, which likes to make a difference with its donations. The Trust provides financial support for the natural environment including gardens, and for community and music-related organisations throughout the United Kingdom. The trustees have discretion to make donations in the UK and abroad although the vast majority are to Scottish organisations, with all types of charitable objects.

Constitutional objectives

The Trustees shall pay or apply the income of the Trust Fund and shall have power in their discreti on at any time or times to payor apply the whole or any part or parts of the capital thereof to any registered or recognised charities, whether societies, trusts or other bodies, or any one of them which dispense money for the purpose of preserving gardens held or formerly held in private hands and situated in Great Britain, or which provide grants or pensions to gardeners or retired gardeners in Great Britain, or for any purposes as are charitable both in law and within the meaning of Section 505 of the Income and Corporation Taxes Act 1988 or any Act amending or replacing the same. and it is hereby specifically declared and provided that the Trustees shall be prohibited from exercising their powers other than for charitable purposes only, or in such a manner as to benefit directly or indirectly us or any person who has contributed to the Trust Fund, or any spouse of ours or of any such person.
