02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
GEAC aims to deliver a bold creative programme in locations across Glasgow North East. We run weekly workshops and classes in music, performance and visual art from Platform, the arts centre at The Bridge in Easterhouse. These activities are open to all regardless of age and experience and available on a 'pay what you like' basis allowing people to attend free of charge. We also host a vibrant programme of performances, gigs and exhibitions at the arts centre and venues across North East Glasgow. We aim to reduce financial barriers to access as much as possible and offer all 182k residents living in North East Glasgow the opportunity to buy tickets at our 'local links' rate which is currently set at £5. GEAC brings together communities and artists through engagement and participation for reciprocal opportunities to play, learn, be supported, be challenged, and create artworks that reflect their lives and aspirations.
