02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
LGBT Health and Wellbeing (LGBT Healthy Living Centre) was set up in 2003 to improve the health, wellbeing, and equality of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT+) people in Scotland. It provides responsive support services, a social programme for the community to connect with each other in sober and safer spaces, and supports mainstream services to become more inclusive. In response to the needs of LGBT people, the organisation’s key operational objectives are to: • Create opportunities for LGBTQ+ people to come together in safe and affirming spaces, enabling them to create, strengthen & build connections & relationships. • Provide affirmative, varied, and responsive support services that meet the needs of our community and help them to navigate the numerous challenges that we face • Centre marginalised LGBTQ+ voices, such as refugees, older people, QTIPOC etc., and provide support • Support mainstream services on their journey towards increased accessibility & inclusivity

Constitutional objectives
The objects for which the Company is established are to promote and improve the holistic health of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people aged over 16 years within Scotland. to provide support which contributes to the health and wellbeing of relatives, friends and work colleagues of such lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people. to work with other organisations and individuals in order to achieve improvements in the health of such lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people. and to provide, publish and disseminate information and resources on aspects of health relating to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people.
