02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
The charity operates under the social model of disability, helping to identify barriers faced by individuals with neurological diagnoses, as well as their carers and families. We recognise the social, economic, and environmental influences on mental health and wellbeing and aim to take action to address these issues. Our projects focus on improving physical and mental health, wellbeing, quality of life, and resilience, emphasising recovery, re-enablement, and human rights protection. We support social and economic inclusion through a 'doing with' rather than 'doing for' approach, creating a safe environment to discuss the stigma and vulnerability surrounding mental health issues. By tailoring our services to the specific needs of our members, we provide support, advice, education sessions, therapies, creative activities, and healthy meals while promoting the positive benefits of green spaces.
