02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Girlguiding is set up to help girls and young women reach their full potential, build confidence, develop life skills and make a positive difference in their communities. We provide a safe, inclusive and supportive environment where girls can have fun, make friends, take on new challenges and find their voice. We achieve this through a programme of activities, adventures, skills development, outdoor experiences and community involvement delivered by trained volunteers. Through our Rainbow, Brownie, Guide and Ranger sections, girls learn teamwork, leadership, resilience and independence while taking part in activities that reflect their interests and aspirations. We listen to girls’ views, encourage them to shape their own experiences and support them to become confident, responsible and active members of society.
