02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

No Strings Attached Community Wind Band offers woodwind, brass, and percussion players the opportunity to make music together in a supportive environment. The band rehearses weekly during school terms and prepares for several concerts each year. Membership is open to all without audition, drawing participants primarily from the City, the Lothians, and West Fife. While there is a subscription fee, it may be waived for individuals facing financial hardship. We encourage members to develop their musical skills through rehearsals and performances at varying levels of difficulty, with a primary focus on ensemble playing and collaboration. Except for our annual ticketed Edinburgh Fringe concert, all performances are free. Each year, we also present a concert specifically for primary school-aged children to inspire early interest in music and wind instruments.
