02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Scottish Families Affected by Alcohol and Drugs is a national charity which provides a range of support to anyone affected by someone else's alcohol or drug use in Scotland. We provide information, advice and evidence-based support to family members and other loved ones, and we influence policy and practice relating to family support at both national and local levels. We do this by consulting and engaging with the people we support, enabling them to have their voices heard by policy and decision-makers. We are recognised as Scotland's leading charity for families affected by alcohol and drugs, and are the Scottish Government's chosen Third Sector Partner in this area of work.
