02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Advocacy Western Isles is set up to provide independent, person-centred advocacy for people across the Western Isles, ensuring their voices are heard, rights upheld, and choices respected. We support individuals to express their views, safeguard their rights, and make informed decisions in matters affecting their lives, particularly in health, social care, housing, and legal settings. We deliver this through one-to-one advocacy, issue-based support, and representation at meetings and hearings. Our service is free, confidential, and accessible to all eligible groups, with particular focus on people with disabilities, mental health issues, older people, and others who may be vulnerable or disadvantaged.
