02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Established as a Scottish charity in 2003, from a grass roots organisation, Visual Statement exists to inspire creativity and wellness through dance and arts and craft activities. Through active participation in the arts, we teach young people about dignity and respect. the cornerstones of good mental health and social development. We work inclusively with children, 3 years old and upwards, from all backgrounds and cultures, to engender a sense of achievement and teamwork and aim to give them greater aspirations and hopes for their own future”. We use arts and crafts activities, as a catalyst to engagement and target the most impoverished, disengaged, and difficult to reach young people in Glasgow North East.
