02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
To promote the relief of poverty and advance education, citizenship and community development by co-ordinating and supporting student charitable fundraising across Edinburgh, the Lothians and the Borders and distributing the funds for the benefit of recognised charitable bodies. ? Support all students in Edinburgh who want to raise money for charity. ? Help groups of student fundraisers co-ordinate and co-operate in their fundraising efforts. ?Create opportunities for students to have an exceptional and distinctive experience which prepares them for life beyond their studies, through student fundraising and volunteering. ? Promote and recognise students’ participation in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. ? Actively promote our sustainability agenda. ? Running a variety of events, such as RAG annual hitchhiking events, RAG Ball and Freshers Week and other RAG events in which any student can take part and raise money for charities. We also run the Meadows Marathon.

Constitutional objectives
The company’s objects are to promote the relief of poverty and advance education, citizenship and community development by co-ordinating and supporting charitable fundraising by students at Universities and Colleges of Higher Education in the area and then distributing the funds for the benefit of recognised charitable bodies.
