02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

To provide support to enable individuals experiencing exclusion for reason of physical or learning disability, mental health issues or any other reason to make a tangible contribution to their communities. Our participants face a range of challenged. health, disability and social circumstances but our focus is always on their strengths and interests. Through their participation in our social enterprise and community activities, participants are supported to improve their health, learn new skills, increase their confidence and find new opportunities.

Constitutional objectives

To advance education (particularly among the residents of Clydesdale and environs) in matters associated with the environment. To preserve, restore and improve the environment within Clydesdale and environs through the provision, maintenance and/or improvement of public open space and other environmental projects (but subject to appropriate safeguards to ensure that the public benefit so arising clearly outweighs any private benefit thereby conferred on private landlords). To promote, operate and/or support similar charitable projects and programmes for the benefit of the community, and particularly those living within Clydesdale and environs. To promote the inclusion of people who have learning disabilities and long term illness and other vulnerable people. These are its charitable purposes for the purposes of section 7 of the 2005 Act. For as long as the Company is entered on the Scottish Charity Register, its purposes may only be altered with the prior consent of OSCR and in accordance with any conditions attached to such consent
