02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

We deliver first aid, ambulance and training services to a level which is unparalleled in the voluntary sector. Those services are brought into play about 200 times per year across 7 local authority areas. Our first responders are trained and equipped to deal with cardiac arrest, fractures, dislocations and a very wide range of underlying illness and injury. We enable community events to take place safely, with the organisers confident that prompt assistance will be given wherever it might be needed. We have recently developed a first-class education and resource centre. It will enhance our volunteers’ training and will enable us to teach life-saving skills to members of the public in ways which are innovative, stimulating and intellectually rewarding. It will enable us to offer even more opportunities for volunteering and all of our clinical equipment and training materials will be co-located, ready for deployment at short notice.
